March 31st- April 9th - Beach Trip

My parents moved last summer from Atlanta, Georgia to Salt Lake City, Utah.  We loved having them so close in Atlanta - impromptu trips happened frequently and within 3 1/2 hours we could be together. Now it just takes a little more time and planning and the visits are not as frequent as we would like, but we make it work!

Our last visit we met up at the beach.

Panama City Beach.

My previous experiences at PCB are from when I went there my senior year in high school for a spring break trip with my friends.  That year it was ranked the #1 wildest spring break destination.  Lot's of Mardi Gras beads and under aged drinking going on.  To this day I still can't believe my parents let me go.  I will say that I was NOT one of the wild ones.  In fact, I remember taking our chaperon (my friend's mom) with me to church for the Easter Sunday service.

When my parent's suggested we meet up at PCB for spring break I had flashbacks to the scene I experienced in my youth.  Let's just say, I wasn't too convinced it would be very family friendly.  When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised.  Our house was right on the beach and we pretty much had it all to ourselves.  No drunk college co-eds to worry about.  Just white sandy beaches and clear aqua ocean before us!

Wesley W. and Jacob and 2 girls they met at the beach digging a massive hole.

Opa with Charlotte enjoying her PB&J sandwich.  Look closely - it is all over her face!

Charlotte loved getting in the water with anyone who would take her.

 Charlotte and Beste Hege.

My too-cute brother, Jacob.  You are getting too big!

I decided to go with and Egyptian theme with my sand creations.  Below you will see my pyramid and them my dad covered up to look like a mummy.

Charlotte is my beach baby, for sure!
She loved the water and rolling around digging the the sand.
She was completely entertained and loved every moment of it!

Wesley W. Charlotte and Jacob.  Such cute little buddies!

Another baby had on the same swimsuit as Charlotte!

All the kids got along great.  Here Wesley is reading some of the library books we brought.

My Dad is obsessed with Romney and so here he is in front of the TV watching the results from the primaries come in.  Romney wins!

Charlotte gives the beach trip a thumbs up!

One night we took a family outing to the darling idyllic community of Watercolor (or Seaside).  This picturesque town is where the Truman Show was filmed.

There was a street performer and Charlotte found herself a stage and put on a show for us.

Here is a video clip so you can see her in action!

Charlotte sat down with Wesley to watch the sunset on the water and she insisted that he put his hand around her waist!  What a little flirt!

This was our enormous sand castle.  Truly epic.  I have never been part of such a large sand creation before.  It was a group effort!

Thanks, Mom and Dad, for making this trip possible.  It was wonderful to visit with you and to make these memories together.  Thank you so much!
